Ideas for an Allergy Free Halloween
Can you believe it? Halloween is just around the corner! If you’re having a Halloween party or planning to give out treats to trick-or-treaters, why not consider joining the Teal Pumpkin Project?
To help all the kids in your community enjoy the festivities of Halloween, you can place a teal-colored pumpkin outside your door to let parents and kids know that your house has allergy-friendly treats.
For most households, that means handing out treats that are free from at least the eight common allergens: milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat and soybeans.
Here are some ideas of items you might consider instead of your usual bag of candies.
Non-food treats
- Bead & string kits to make bracelets or necklaces.
- Glow sticks. Check your local dollar store or craft supply shop.
- Temporary tattoos or stickers.
- Bubbles. You can find white wedding bubbles in bulk at the craft store, and decorate them for Halloween.
- Mini coloring books and a small pack of crayons.
- Bracelets. Catalogs like Oriental Trading Company often have fun options for cheap!
